Since our Dutch football team is underperforming we are putting all our energy into branding something new! The world tourism industry is growing vastly and inbound tourism in the Netherlands is about the highest percentage in the world. After Center Parcs developed the world’s first Holliday Resort with 365 days of sunshine at the Aqua Mundo, glamorous camping became our next challenge. Glamping has grown so fast that it’s becoming more than just a trend. It’s more a life style now and necessary to offer so you can survive as a traditional camping. Those who did not changed their camp site concept miss out.
The customer experience is a key part of a Glamping holiday. A Glamping Experience is a mix of staying at a five-star hotel and a Theme Park in the forest. The ANWB, the biggest Dutch tourist consumer organisation, did an extensive inspection among 200 camp sites in Europe. Only 180 of them received a five-star classification. They did a quality check and gave ratings for hygiene, sanitation, swimming pool, entertainment, landscaping, restaurants and guest services! The points for sanitation were the most important, because sanitation is the most important factor for a guest. We should be proud of the result, because 180 European camp sites received a 5-star Glamping certificate and 47 of them are located in the Netherlands.
Do you know what makes a Glamping camp sites special? Most of them are owned by families. They have a lot of activities like Outdoor Adventures, Indoor Play Grounds, F.E.C. (Family Entertainment Centers), Waterparks or Spray Parks and mostly Wellness, Fitness and live entertainment. They also have supermarkets, restaurants, disco’s and giftshops. All the cottages, tree houses, bungalows, tents, tiny houses and even special hotel rooms are different and unique. Well known Glamping camp sites in the Netherlands are Recreation park De Boshoek, Beerze Bulten, Julianahoeve, De Pampel, De Schatberg, and De Bongerd. In the past ten years, Pleisureworld worked with more than half of the 47 Dutch camp sites as a Leisure Consultant.
On the 12th of June 2018, Pleisureworld is organising the congress ‘The Holiday Park of the Future’ at Recreation park Ter Spegelt, also a 5-star camp site.
My experience as a professional football coach is very useful as a Trendwatcher and Leisure Consultant! Maybe I should be training our Dutch football team…?
